I'm sitting here going LOL because I was raised by 2 faithful members of the "it'll come in handy" religion. But the last time I moved & downsized I took up my courage & threw away every old wire & cable that wasn't actually connected to something.. Oh, the guilt!
But next, what shall I do with the shoeboxes i have full of dozens of opened containers of nuts, bolts, screws & other misc bits of tiny hardware that I had to buy a package of when I only needed 1 or 2 of whatever, & the remainder never fit when i needed something else, or I find the needed item in the box after I already went & bought. another.

Those are some very useful cables Wren, USB, Power leads,
TV Aerial, Digital Audio, that I can see.

Throw them away if you want, but be warned a day or two
after you get rid of them, you will need one, "Sod's Law".

What do you mean about throwing things away? When you need them, you go where you kept them and they aren't there. You can take the house apart and you won't find them. EVER. Uh Uh. The only thing to do is go out and buy some more. When you're finished, and put the new ones away, that's when you'll find the five others, you've always had. So you put the new ones with the old ones, so you'll know exactly where they are. HA HA HA HA HA, YEAH RIGHT!!!!

fuzzy buddy nailed it! Or you find the last thing you couldn't find anywhere & replaced when you're looking for something else, & cycle continues. Just the other day I was looking for a gripper to open jars with & found the several pairs of "lost" tweezers I'd replaced a few months ago

I cannot watch the TV program Hoarders and I mean I cannot it freaks me out. I hate clutter so I excel at throwing stuff out.

Here's the thing about keeping things because I "might" need them. If and when that time comes, will I know where to find it? Will I even remember I have it? Probably not. And do I want to give house room to a drawer full of "maybe I'll need this sometime?" Mostly, for me, the answer is no. For my husband, it's a whole different story.

Otherwise you are overwhelmed with containers and bags and whatever.

One big problem is old books. Nobody wants them, even if you do want to give them away. Our local libraries and used book stores ask that you donate only books that are a few years old at most. And I hate to throw a book out!

I cannot bring myself to throw books out, either. Somewhere in my childhood I learned to view books as almost sacred things.

Those little packets of wipes to rub on a food stain when you are out in public and drop food or drink on your shirt. Happens to us all the time and so far neither of us has ever bothered to use one. Maybe some day.
