10 restaurants burglarized/damaged on same night in Glendale California

I can understand one restaurant being broken into, and the crooks not finding any cash, but 10? These are pretty inept robbers if they haven't made a dime in 10 break-ins.. If they're intent is not to steal cash, why break in? And nothing is stolen??? The only consequence of the break-in is the restaurants closing due to damages. That may be why the eateries were targeted. If your rivals are out of business, customers will start coming to your place. ??? I'm not a lawyer, but if you don't take anything, it's not legally a 'robbery'-which would come with major jail time, but 'malicious mischief'- which comes with community service. Or this could be an extortion scam, you pay us, or this will happen to you??
