$100 Worth of Groceries Opinion

If you buy local in season things are cheaper almost everywhere. It's a question of the length of growing seasons, though some things grown in a hothouse can extend the season and still be cheaper than the stuff shipped from the other hemisphere or subsidized terraforming as in California. Aquifers have been drained pretty steadily though. I'm not certain California Ag is viable long term. Products like almonds, avocados, beef, and dairy are very thirsty, bringing the end earlier than it might otherwise be.
