Looking at all those roses brought back some memories. In Honolulu up behind the Zoo on edge Waikiki is the Queen Kapiolani Garden, when i lived in Hawaii in early 70's it was referred to as 'The Queen's Rose Garden'.

Then between Waikiki and Chinatown is Queen Lili'uokalani's Botanical legacy.

The admission to both these places, oasis-like bits of beauty/peace in midst of a large metro city is still free, likely because the Hawaiian Royalty (Lili'uokalani was Hawaii last Monarch) who donated the land specifically for 'public use'. But i was happy to learn looking them up that so far they have remained a sacred trust of sorts not corrupted by profit motives of either corporations or the state.

I can see that is an especially superb rose garden, wonderful!

Besides a long hi tech career, am also an old landscape and nature photographer, 35mm, 6x7, 4x5 view camera and for about a decade digital. Although most of my work is natural landscapes, I quite enjoy working roses during spring peak early May in our acclaimed city rose garden. I often hike urban streets for exercise in several cities and frequently stop to stick my nose into optimally ripe roses. These are down sized from full images shot May this year.

Wow that looks like a superb old garden! My parents now in eternity grew up in Windsor and Hartford. I still have an uncle and nephews in that area.

Portland Oregon has a nice rose garden



My first job was hoeing roses for an ol' guy that had many acres of roses.
He had several awards with his roses strewn throughout that garden
