There are many things that are completely unique to the 1960s. If you grew up during that time, then you know how different they are from today. Entertainment, culture, and just basic daily routines have changed drastically. So, here are 13 things from the 1960s that kids today would never fully understand.

Do you remember any of these?

Yes, I do. All 13 resonated with me for sure. I grew up in the 1950s, but the '60s were pretty much the same. We all played outside, drank from the water hose, and didn't come in until we were yelled at for dinner. Everyone walked to school, many of us for several miles. Didn't think much about it. And I sure remember stopping at the drugstore on the way home to get a hand made lime phosphate soda drink at the counter for 10 cents...:) And across the street the other drugstore offered a 20 ounce glass of root beer for 5 cents!

The main thing the granddaughters will never understand, is their Grandma was a lot cooler as a teen than they were. ;) They can't even touch it. The hot rods, transistor radios, dance moves, miniskirts, bell bottoms, white go go boots, homemade bikinis, and the hair styles.

Eating white paste in elementary school. Came in big white glass jars.
Watching steam engines running right next to your house on their way to the RR station.
Returning bottles to get enough Money to go to the movies and have a 10 cent bag of popcorn.
Sitting down and shut up when the teacher said to. Back talk got you a free trip to principals office.

Riding two and three on a bike without a helmet, and knowing when to jump off. I once watched a little girl with a helmet and pads hit a curb and just flop over....lol.
