150+mph wind devastates Portugal & Spain; 5 deaths

We are all getting very bad weather in Europe, even
here in London, the rain for January, according to
the ITV News, is 160% more than normal.

Then there is the promised snow due some time in
February, no doubt it is a lot less than in North America
and Canada, but for us, it is bad, I hope that everybody
stays warm, dry and safe, wherever you are.

Wow! 157mph is Category 5 hurricane strength. Hope people stay safe in the aftermath. I wonder how prepared people are in this area since this is far outside the norm.
In Portugal? Not at all. That storm was extremely unusual. My cousin, Manuel, lives there with his wife Sara. He managed to call me early yesterday. He could call because they made it to his brother's house where there's a generator, but they're not sure how long they can keep it going if they can't get gasoline. There's no running water, no electricity, and they're concerned about running out of food. His parents, his brother's wife, kids, and in-laws, and a few friends are all there in that house and they sleep huddled in groups because they don't have enough blankets.

Manuel said the gov't announced a state of emergency. After police, rescue, and etc. clear out fallen trees and debris and get the injured out, the gov't will start distributing food, blankets, water, etc. and people in cities that were spared can start taking food and supplies to people who were effected.

Here in East Dorset and neighbouring West Hampshire, storm Chandra has caused flooding chaos.
