158 drug convictions were tossed do to 7 corrupt Philadelphia narcotics officers. They were tried on federal charges but only one pleaded guilty and the others were found not guilty.

135 civil lawsuits resulted from these 7 officers. Several got their jobs back and one of the "not" guilty ones is about to fired for a positive drug test.

With those lawsuits, does that mean the cops who lied about evidence or whatever their part was, will also be sued by those who were found to be innocent? Hopefully it won't be just the taxpayer who has to pay up, but also those individual cops.

I can't imagine how rotten it must be to sit in jail, knowing you aren't guilty and you are stuck there because someone lied. Just awful.

I think a lot of police and cities carry insurance for lawsuits but it still comes back to increased insurance premiums. If new information comes out of those suits more may follow. To top it off if there were some legitimate convictions with legitimate evidence all that work is out the window. I can believe some of those prosecutors couldn't smell the stink on their poop but probably business as usual.
