18,000 year old puppy found in Russia permafrost

Creatures preserved in the permafrost are fascinating time capsules of the long past, some so well preserved that they look just asleep. Awesome to think that this puppy predates most of human civilization!

You're soo right. It's easy in this day and age of the internet to not actually stop and think about what we're actually looking at.. 18 thousand years is hard to even fathom
 
It says in the article that most of these are found by people looking to find Mammoth tusks, which the Chinese pay good money for.
 
I bet it was a wolf puppy, this is what I read below =

Scientists generally agree that there is good evidence that dogs were domesticated around 15,000 years ago. By 14,000 years ago, people were burying dogs, sometimes along with humans.
