So tomorrow is the anniversary of the "Blizzard of 77 " in Western NY State. Dumped massive amounts of snow, pretty much shutting down many areas for days. I remember being off work for a few days. @moviequeen1 , were you living in Buffalo at the time? I guess you got it too.

On this day.."The “Blizzard of 1977” is arguably the worst storm to hit Batavia in modern times. It began on January 28, 1977 and the main blast lasted for more than a day . The blizzard completely paralyzed the area and marooned thousands. The
wind chill dropped to as low as minus 68 and drifts piled as high as two-story houses. Roads could not be reopened for many days in some instances. One of the common recollections of
individuals who lived through the experience was the suddenness with which the storm struck. One minute, the day was calm and visibility fine. Literally the next minute, the winds were
roaring and visibility dropped to nearly zero".

Hi Marie, yes I was living in Buffalo, lived thru it
I was working downtown, told my boss I was leaving early to go be with my mom who was all alone at home At the time we lived in Kenmore,NY{burb of city}.My dad was the clerk of the Federal Court he told me to do it.My boss wasn't thrilled,I didn't care .Dad didn't get home until 3 days later

I wish I still had a picture my dad took of me and a friend in our back yard. There was a high drift, way over our heads. And I am 5'6" . Another friend, who lived in the country, was snowed in for several days..before they could plow her street.

A local channel in Houston posted a pic of a backyard that had Robins on the lawn! Granted the weather has been warm but Robins in January?

When we lived in Watertown, NY in the early 90's, people all had stories of where they were during this blizzard. One person said if they had left the bowling alley a half hour later, they would have been there for several days. I worked at New York Air Brake and the workers were stuck there for several days.

The Blizzard of '77 had my hometown,Buffalo,NY on National News for a week or so
Through the yrs whenever we have a blizzard or storm, the national weather service gives out mis information always saying'its snowing in Buffalo',which is not true
What some of these meterologists don't realize is,not everybody gets snow at the same time,it all depends how close you are to Lake Erie. The bulk of the winter snow always goes south of the city where the ski areas are located
Two of my favorite Weather Channel meterologists Mike Siedel,Jim Cantore have been here many times over the yrs,at least they know where the snow is actually falling

The worst Blizzard that hit Pennsylvania was 26 yrs ago in 1993. It started on March 13th. I remember it like it was only yesterday. My Dad's last birthday was on that day, but fortunately, we lived across the street from my parents. So my husband went out and shoveled a path to their house. Little did we know it would be my dad's last Birthday.
