200 white onions in the ground.

Miss having a garden so much. Most of all I miss home grown tomatoes! Have tried growing in 5 gallon buckets but did not have any good results.

That's a shame because nothing beats a fresh home grown tomato. (y)
Last year, we grew them in both the raised garden and 5 gal. buckets. We used a mix of garden soil, miracle grow, and some plain old dirt.
We shall do the same this year.
We did learn one trick from you tube. We learned to cut of all the lower sucker shoots and leaf's . The plant ends up looking a little barren down low, but, you're growing tomato's, not leaf's. (leaves?) :)

Based upon what the weather forecasts are saying, I think my gardening will be delayed this year. I've got the seeds, but the ground is so saturated that it will take a week or more of warm sunny weather before I can do much. We had a fairly mild and dry week, so I got my tiller out yesterday, and started turning the dirt over....but I didn't get far before the tines were completely clogged with mud. Then, tonight, and much of the next week, we will be getting more rain....up to 4+ inches, with the temperatures retreating back into the 50's. I'm hoping to start the tomato plants, in containers, by early April, but if this wet weather continues, it may be early May.

I just ordered some Egyptian walking onions to try growing. I remember having these many years ago, and the new little bulbs come on the top of the green stems, fall off and start new onions, which is why they are called walking onions.
I read that they can be grown in containers, so I am going to try growing some in the house and have fresh green onions this winter, and some i will plant outside to come up probably next spring.
There are 25 tiny bulbs in the order, but as they grow and make new bulbs, I can plant more of them, and have plenty of green onions for eating.
I also found some ramp seeds on eBay, and I read that they grow in shade under trees, so I am thinking that I will get some ramp and try growing it under the trees in the front yard.
