We the majority of the people only have one weapon to fight the Oligarchs in the world. And that is money too. Remember where rich people get their money. From selling their goods to the rest of us. If enough middle class people would stop buying anything they don't absolutely need they would be forced to lower prices. This is why some corporations bought up the rights to the things we absolutely can not live without. Food, water, medicine, etc. Guess who has control of a huge percentage of that...We can't do anything about it when the only thing that matters is money. Russia's invasion of Ukraine was (IMO) all about stealing their natural resources.
Actually, "The U.S.", that's us, doesn't want to do that. Without getting political or favoring one side over another, because all political parties are guilty of this in my opinion, a few clueless Politicians and some of their rich friends are saying that and a huge amount of other nonsense as a distraction from what they're really doing. The U.S. wants to clear Palestinians out of Gaza and build a giant resort on the Mediterranean. China is extracting natural resources from Africa without benefitting the host countries. Actually, they're saddling them with tremendous debt.
Yeah, and I have a bridge for sale that will take you right to it.The world depends on the U.S., Russia, and China to do the right thing. Okay... and I have some oceanfront property here in Colorado for sale.
Who said anything about his dad? Last I checked, the Christian religions allege that Christ is God.may be heading for the second coming of Christ not his dad??
You don't get to this age without hearing multiple times throughout the years that the world is about to end. I have always laughed. This is the first time I think they may be right. At the very least, the world "as we know it" is ending.
Yes of course, but I am more concerned about the immediate future for my grandchildren and their progeny, say through the next 75 years.Eventually, Earth ends. We don't have to do anything to make this happen, the Sun will take care of that. Earth is approx 4 billion years old right now. We have approx 1 billion left before we're destroyed by physics. We shall move beyond, or be destroyed forever. Forget fossils. Forget monuments. It'll all be returned to constituent atoms.
Many places are past midnight, already!
Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, The West Bank, Syria, these
are the main ones, that I know about, but there are
others, that don't make the press.
Very sad.
Mike.
They'll be fine. They may have to make some adaptations for climate change but basically they'll be fine.Yes of course, but I am more concerned about the immediate future for my grandchildren and their progeny, say through the next 75 years.
Notably the concept of eschatological tension.Well personally I find a bit of interest in studying Eschatology.
Nowhere is it mentioned that they're chucking nukes at each other.

Like you, I am not enamored with the wisdom of the human race. We have raped the planet and never looked back till it kicks us in the ass-terisk. Never before has any species had the capacity to destroy itself, and the entire planet, and that is a responsibility that is overshadowed by greed, lust for power, and ignorance. That's an ominous recipe.Well, without specifics, the next four years will be a bit of madness. Then it will take 8 years to return to normality. So that's 12 years accounted for.

Once the error of our ways comes to visit, we look to technology and scientists to swoop in with a plan to save the day. Maybe we can inject particles into the air to reflect some of the sun's rays. Maybe we can mass produce artificial plants that will gobble up CO2. Maybe biodegradable plastics will work out and catch on. Yes, the next 4 years will set us back, but hopefully it won't destroy us and the planet.
But think of the enormous profit that will be generated while we destroy ourselves...Sadly, it is beyond us to leave the planet as we (as in a generation) found it. Nature will win. It won't wait for us. Ultimately we'll destroy ourselves before we destroy nature.
As so called food doomsday approaches...If eggs blew up in price due to bird flu...according to about 400 people posting pictures on a forum...why hasn't chicken breast/chicken products blown up in price. One thing Covid taught me is not to underestimate Mother Nature. She may yet straighten out her planet with a bigger and better pandemic that will cut the population in half along with said population's capacity to use resources and create destructive gasses.
Look what the bird flu has done for egg consumption! Maybe a truly bad version of mad cow disease would stop us from eating beef and that would do wonders for the planet.
A giant asteroid would be helpful, too.
If you'd done a wee bit of research:As so called food doomsday approaches...If eggs blew up in price due to bird flu...according to about 400 people posting pictures on a forum...why hasn't chicken breast/chicken products blown up in price.
You're absolutely correct! Broilers & egg laying chickens are completely seperate breeds of chickens and are raised on seperate farms plus, egg laying chickens are more susceptible to the H5N1 virus whereas the Broilers not so much so Tazx was, in a sense, actually correct when he was trying to be facetious ... "Bird flu discriminates?!If you'd done a wee bit of research:
"It's all about the type of chicken. The chickens that produce eggs are not the same chickens that become wings, tenders, breasts, and drumsticks. The latter are known as broilers and are raised solely for meat production. It's egg-laying chickens that have been more widely impacted by the avian flu."
If we went to a non-profit system we would destroy ourselves just as quickly, if not even faster. At least capitalism rewards those who solve problems. But think of the enormous profit that will be generated while we destroy ourselves...
