2025 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

Storm Éowyn has arrived and is leaving a trail of damage and power cuts across parts of Ireland, central and southern Scotland and northern England. This area seems to be avoiding the worst of the weather, but it's still very windy. We had to drive down to Banff this morning, but in spite of all the dire warnings and advice not to travel, the journey was smooth with no trouble from the wind.

It's been an odd winter with one storm after another, and snow a month earlier than we would normally expect.

12F/-11C. Normal for this time of year. Snowfall is much less this winter though. An acquaintance said they went up to the top of this mountain a couple of weeks ago and there was only about 5 ft of snow pack up there. Usually, by now, it is 35 ft or more. It will be a dry summer if this continues. Our municipal water is from snow melt; the water in my creek is snow melt; the farmers down below irrigate with snow melt. They mainly grow feed corn, hay and beef and a drought will hurt. Fingers crossed.

It's up to 55 F now and most of Tuesday's snow has melted except for a few patches here and there. The roads are all clear with the exception of a few isolated patches of ice. Not enough to concern cars and trucks. People have reverted to driving like maniacs again. I am itching to get back on my motorcycles but even a little ice here and there is too much to risk that. Maybe tomorrow.

Daytimes here the past month or so have been around 35 degrees or
lower. Overnight usually about 26 or 28 degrees. No snow yet, only
up in the mountains. Blue skies and sun some of the time.

Finally there is no ice on the roads! Got up to the low 60's this afternoon. Went for my first motorcycle ride in 8 days! :)
