We are now in our “second summer” weather where temps can get into the 70’s or even 80’s (deg F) with no overnight freezing until possibly mid October. We had our “fake fall” last week with overnight freezing temps and no more than mid 50’s for highs. So if you cover your garden plants during “fake fall”, they can keep producing well into October.

We will get our “real fall” in about the 3rd week of October, which will last about 2 or 3 weeks before winter temps visit for a week or so (fake winter). Then a reprieve and real winter around the beginning of December.

Yeah the weather is weird, but the one certainty is amount of sunlight, which becomes in quite short supply by December.

Another sunny, warm and dry day. Despite a few "splash and dash" showers recently, the grass is still crispy when I walk on it. Not much chance of rain, either, for the next week and a gradual warming trend. However the nights promise cool comfort.
My mom used to say, "It autumn when the days are warm and the night are cool."

Our heat wave has been extended another 2 days

Every day almost the same - sunny, dry, highs in the upper 70sF and lows in the mid-50sF. Little if no rain forecast in the next 10 days.
My locale experienced a remarkably dry August 2025, with only 0.88 inches of rain. This is a stark contrast to 2024, which had a record-setting wet August.
So far in September 2025, Albany, NY has received only 0.49 inches of rain. This is a very dry September, with drought conditions currently in effect.
