2025 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

Here in the San Jose area at the south end of San Francisco Bay at 10:45am PST per below satellite screen capture, we have heavy marine overcast at ground level with much drizzle and a chilly 47F temperature. I live near the red dot. Our Central Valley is that large area of white due to a long period of inversion ground fog. October and half of November were very wet that left much water on the ground that has now turned to vast areas of fog that will continue until we receive some storms with following wind to dry those areas out.

During the ski season, I really dread driving across the Central Valley when it is so foggy because some pinheaded drivers don't have the patience or common sense to drive slowly that then may cause rear end collisions as they encounter those ahead they cannot see driving slow. To the right of the valley is the Sierra Nevada with areas of snow well east where the range is highest with the continuous crest 10,000 feet to 14,500 feet.

To the south, coastal Orange and San Diego Counties are also under coastal marine overcast/fog.

How's the Weather Where You Are?

Right now there are moist little droplets falling from the sky, some people say it's raining, I say, "It's Pyssing down." 😊

Another foggy drizzly morning with a 47F temperature with some hazy sun in the afternoon. After a few weeks of dry weather, some piddly rain is due Wednesday and then as the pre-Christmas weekend begins, several days of rain that through the 10-day forecast shows a whopping 3 inches of rain that if such happens, will bring our December totals to near normal. Of more interest to this person, the above will also build up our snow pack from shallow Tahoe ski resort base depths, to start my ski season at least at highest elevations.

It’s snowing right now and -4 degrees but on Wednesday and Thursday it’s going to be 6 and 8 degrees so this snow is not going to stay. I’m still wishing for fresh snow for Christmas.IMG_1748.jpeg

We are having an "interesting" weather. A few days ago we had -30C overnight and in the -25 - -22 during the day
and today it will go to -3 C, right now its -11C. And we will get very strong wind tonight until Thursday with snow.
Seems the wind is changing constantly from the South through the West to the North then East and back to South-East and so on!!!
For the last couple of weeks it kept snowing almost every day a little (2-3 - 5 cm). Very annoying having to clear that almost every day!

28 F (-2 C) this morning. Only the second time this season it has dipped below freezing. There was ice in the bird bath. This afternoon it made it all the way up to 52 F (11 C).

"The storm continues to rage this morning, reaching peak intensity as a cold front passes before noon. Wind speeds will increase to blow strong to extreme from the SW and W. Intense precipitation rates will bring up to a foot of dense snow to the Sawtooths as rainlines climb to ~8,000'. Behind the cold front, precipitation will diminish, winds will ease, and temperatures will plummet into the teens F. Skies will gradually clear in the mountains south of Galena Summit, while remaining mostly cloudy to the north.

Overnight, expect a break in the action. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Low temperatures will range from the single digits to the low teens F. Wind will blow light from the W and NW.

The winter comeback tour continues Thursday and Friday as another storm takes aim at the Forecast Area. This storm looks cooler, and snow totals will be measured in feet by the weekend. "

Please let it get cold and snow, it's kinda boring (dank and grey) around here w/out it.

Brits have been left baffled by a rare weather phenomenon that has turned the December skies a brilliant rose colour.

'Pink fog' occurs when sunlight passes through fine material such as dust or moisture in the air, according to meteorologists at the Met Office.

'When the sunlight comes through lots of layers, it filters out the blue and scatters it, leaving the red to come through,' said Met Office spokesman Graham Madge.IMG_1522.jpeg

Seasonable temp (38F right now). It's been overcast all day, but no precip. However, we're under a weather advisory that mixed precip is just off to the west and heading this way. Could result in difficult travel conditions.
Unseasonably mild temps predicted for tomorrow and Friday - it may get up in the mid 50sF, but big rain and high winds in the forecast for then.
