2025 Medicare Annual Notice of Change will be vital reading this fall

60 Minutes did a segment on how advantage plans are costing seniors their lives. I know a few people that are only alive because they could seek treatment in other states with the best doctors for their condition.

MA frequently denies expensive cancer treatments and you have to keep appealing. By the time you win it’s too late. In one case they expected the person to drive 100 miles each way for treatment instead of allowing it in her town. MA employer plans are usually superior to what most people can buy.

My United Health Care Advantage plan thru AT&T (former employer) allows one to go back to a traditional medicare plan
in the first year. After that you can't go back.

Of the two employer-sponsored plans that mesh with Medicare offered to me, only the MA option covers out of state non-emergency treatment at all.

It's not a question of MA vs. non-MA coverage. Each situation can be different.

But consider the source: CBS? The news organization just caught inserting curated responses into political interviews to cover up halting nonsense?

(excerpt)
If you’re on Medicare, you’ll be getting one or two Annual Notice of Change letters in your mail or email this September about your 2025 coverage and costs. You may be tempted to ignore what looks like junk, as nearly a third of recipients do, according to an eHealth survey.

Don’t.

... While this information is always essential to make smart choices during Medicare’s eight-week Open Enrollment period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7), experts say reading your Annual Notice of Change is especially important in 2024.

“There is an excellent chance that something is changing on your plan,” says Roberts. “This year, more than ever, we can expect big changes in the plans.”

For many years I changed my part D which is RX yearly because the second year they would double or triple the price. Then I would find another plan for 10/month. The past two years I have had WellCare which is free.
