High hopes for the US Women's Team in Cortina.

1956 was the first time for Cortina d'Ampezzo to organize the Winter Olympics. Now, after 70 years, it's the second time, but this time together with Milano. On my way to the Adriatic Sea I often came through Cortina d'Ampezzo, but always in summer.
 
Well, I am really looking forward to it! I love to watch the skiing and the ice skating and speed skating events. And, of course, the opening ceremonies is always great. I got to see the 2010 opening ceremony in Vancouver in person....from the nosebleed seats....for which I paid $800 for the ticket. It was worth it for a once-in-my-lifetime-event, but..... I'm perfectly happy seeing it on TV.
 
As much as I like watching the Olympics, I really wish there was a rule, athletes who have already won in previous Olympics either winter or summer not be named again on their country's team.Let some one else become a 1st time particpant
I can think of 1 athlete,who shouldn't have been allowed to compete every 4 years, swimmer, Michael Phelps, talk about greed

Should the same apply to athletes who win the Super Bowl, the Stanley Cup, or any other medal/award?

For the same reason.. to let someone else participate, right?

That was a spectacular crash. I was hoping she would just make it down the mountain, even if she didn't place. She looked in perfect control until everything suddenly fell apart. Often times you see the racers get off balance first and struggle to regain control. She was briefly off the ground but that's part of downhill. Then she crashed immediately on touch down.

Other than a high profile athlete like Vonn I'm unfamiliar with most winter sport athletes and/or numerous events. Last time I recognized a figure skater's name was decades ago with the Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan rivalry. Sometimes the bob sledding can be interesting. Curling makes a good sport for a bar tv and I don't drink anymore.

At 312 feet (95 m) above sea level it is also the highest point on the geographic Florida Peninsula.

By comparison, the lowest point in Montana is 1800 feet above sea level. It's the Kootenai River at the point where it flows into Idaho, so the elevation fluctuates a few feet from month to month.

I think it’s something like 300 feet, maybe? That’s really not a mountain. More like a hill. When I skied, I skied on mountains above 10,000 feet. If someone wants lesser altitudes, they can go up into the New England ski resorts that are around 3-5000 ft. But, don’t think they don’t offer the thrill of downhill skiing. For example; Killington in Vermont can be challenging.
