26 Companies That Will Pay No Taxes In 2015.

The fact that they paid no taxes does not mean they did anything illegal, they merely took full advantage of existing Tax Laws. Should they pay taxes voluntarily? That would nuts for any business or individual. ;)

A couple of years ago several companies in the UK paid very little in tax by legal means and we were told this on the news. Starbucks was one of them. The public didn't like this much. Business at Starbucks drastically shifted to other places like Costa Coffee. Starbucks volunteered to pay lots of tax.

I'm not saying pay voluntarily. But I'm tired of big companies extorting the US with things like jobs threatening to close facilities and/or transfer jobs overseas. All of the companies listed basically lost their standing to coerce local governments so they will stay or not close a plant because of taxes. So did a lot of others many of whom have access to the same accountants and tax law these companies did.

This is a legislative issue. But sooner or later the US population will not be able to afford the products and services these companies sell.

One of companies on the list, First Solar/solar industry =was touted by the administration being given subsidized loans(3 BILLION) yet most of their production or work is overseas. Xerox also on the list will layoff 500 call center workers. Point is a lot of the tax breaks given were done with the intention of keeping jobs and money in the community/country. That is not what is happening. This is like sports stadium tax payer charity except these companies get the tax code adjusted rather change local law & ordinances.

Why should anybody pay taxes if they don't have to? I don't, and I'm sure very few of us would.

Blame the incompetent politicians, who are incapable of drafting effective tax laws.

We have them over here too, and Starbucks and Amazon, quite fairly and legally, take advantage of them.

I was reading an RT version of that type of story and the thing I noticed as I went through the list was that each of them had donated millions to politicians and each had paid out millions via lobbyists! Do you think there would ever be a possibility that the US could change the system so that lobbyists and multimillion dollar donations could be gotten rid of?

One shouldn't have to pay if they legally don't have to but that's the problem. The laws are purposely customized for these corporations. I am paying more as an individual. It is the politicians, that's the point. 50,000 plus page tax code doesn't get there by accident. Comprehensive accounting books are far shorter than that.

And again several of these companies got federal subsidies and loans etc. GM was bailed out by the US taxpayer and yet doesn't pay anything in taxes? I thought they didn't need charity anymore.

And with regards to your comment Laurie about paying taxes, we just found out that our Canada Revenue Agency has made a deal with a bunch of Canadian multimillionaires who were caught hiding money on the Isle of Mann, that if they paid their back taxes and the interest, there'd be no fines, penalties, etc., and the company that helped them evade taxes, so far anyway, isn't going to be taken to court for helping them cheat! And yet when our little window cleaning company was in it's infancy and it was a perpetual case of playing catch up with the taxes we were supposed to remit, we got audited several times and paid fines, penalties and interest.

It definitely 'pays to be rich' doesn't it?

Corporations and wealthy individuals lavish millions of dollars on our politicians, every election cycle. In return for that "generosity" the politicians have inserted thousands of pages into the IRS Tax Codes that given these wealthy and corporations multiple ways to "reduce" their tax liability. Presently the IRS codes are over 75,000 pages. If we had a truly Fair tax code, it could probably be written on a few dozen pages.
