30 Things Only Baby Boomers Would Understand.....

I remember being stuck in a payphone booth, in the middle of small-town Ohio, on a rainy night, at 2 AM, in 1970. I had hitched from Chicago to my (then) future college. I was heading back home. I tried to call home, pushing quarter after quarter into the slot, as ordered by the operator. I was cold, hungry, alone. The call would not go through. I told the operator to give me back my quarters, only to be told she couldn't! She told me I'd be mailed my refund. I gave her my name and address, and then was alone, in the silence, except for the rain. I'm happy for cell phones, because of that incident, even if they are unreliable, some of the time. At least I keep my quarters!

Remember this trick?
Dialed "0", told operator you wanted to make a person-to-person call to (your own name). Friend or relative answered and said you weren't there. That way they would know you arrived home safely. No charge on phone bill.
Slick.

Haha, I do remember doing that too AC....

Yes, because I was born in 1948 some of these things were already past my time. Please don't make me feel older than I am. Lol

Here's another one:

Writing/passing notes in high school. Actually writing a note on paper and passing it or putting in someone's locker. Kids now would think that's stupid!

Those TV dinners. Yes, they still make something on that order today, but the tin foil trays with the foil over the top. Those were the days. Who remembers the typing or shorthand classes in High School??
