Yeah, my first thought was "Wasn't the thick mustache a clue?" But then I read that he was placed (with the coach, no less) "by the Canada Homestay Network (CNH), an organization that helps arrange accommodations for international students."

They passed the buck immediately.
 

This has also been discovered in the US with adult sometimes illegal immigrants trying to enroll to a high school.

Setting aside the fraud, lying and/or misrepresentation for a minute these are adult men who will be around teenage boys and girls transferring what one only knows in the way of habits & attitude. These will be adults who might resent the way another adult teacher or staff talks to them or will try to interact with them in front of teenage students. This is not good and zero exceptions should be made. This is what GEDs are for.

Maybe it varies from state to state, but here in Calif, Adult Education classes (which can earn a GED) are open to all comers. No one needs to masquerade as a high-school student.

Of course, doing it that guys way, you also get a home and someone to cook for you and wash your laundry and stuff. Plus, Playstation.
 
All heck will break lose if one if these adult men wind up dating a high school student let alone rape or molest them. Or the basketball player injures another player, even without a lot of scientific training an adult male has much more strength than a teenager.

Many years ago, even though I was a RN, I could not enter a Bachelor of Science program until I had completed high school Chemistry. I attended a local high school summer school to complete this prerequisite.
