OMG!!!! We are a bunch of old fogies. Yesterday was April 20,2022. And nobody remembered. Yeah, the old 4-20. That's the day we celebrate marijuana. It's officially Cannabis Day, well almost. At 4:20 PM, on 4,20,2022, if you had 'em, you were supposed to light 'em up. I'm not sure why the " 4-20" is a symbol of marijuana.

I thought today was 4/20.....not yesterday. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
I've heard 2 explanations:

4-20 is Weed Day because 420 is the US state police code for marijuana....except, it isn't.

420 dates back to the '70s when a group of high school students in California used to meet at 4:20 p.m. each week in search of a pot plant that was supposedly left behind in a forest by somebody who had to stop tending his the crop. The kids met at 4:20 p.m. because they were all athletes and couldn't meet until after practice.

714 was stamped on the pill. I haven't done any drugs in forty years but if I got my hands on some ludes I would probably take one. Well maybe just a quarter of one to start!lol
 
Just another day here in Canada. Now that the product is legal in all parts of Canada, the general response is " so what " ? Local shops here in Toronto offer delivery by Skip The Dishes direct to your door. Pay by debit card at the door. Once the "mystery " was removed, it has become just another commercial product, which people over 19 can use, or not. Driving while impaired by either drugs OR alcohol is still a criminal offence in Canada, and those who grow with out a license will be charged and prosecuted. Its a billion dollar business , and both the Provincial and Federal Governments get a percentage of the retail price as taxes. In Ontario a percentage of the taxes from marijuana sales goes directly into the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan, and so does a percentage of the profits from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission. I take a much needed drug to control my ulcerative colitus . It costs over $12,000 a year, BUT I pay nothing for it, as the cost is covered by the Trillium Fund, which receives some of the profits from the Ontario Lottery. Every time somebody buys a lottery ticket here in Ontario, a small portion of that money goes to help me stay healthy. JImB.

jimintoronto, hope you're doing well ,and Toronto is a cool city. It's nice to know that once the emotion about marijuana is decreased, it's no big thing. Yeah, it's fun to use, and that's why we want it. It's like anything you stick in your body- it has positive and negative aspects.

I'm doing pretty good, all things considered. One of the positive things that has come out of the legalization here in Canada is that the Police can now focus on serious crime problems. I have to laugh when I see U.S. cops getting all excited about finding a dime bag in some kid's car. Part of the legalization process here is the removal of past convictions for having pot on your person. Canada is a lot more forgiving about criminal convictions than the US is. Here if you stay out of trouble for 5 years after you have served your sentence and completed your parole or probation, you can apply for a Pardon. Once a person in Canada has received a Pardon, they can honestly say....I have no criminal record. That allows for a second chance to get ahead, and make a new life unburdened by that past conviction. JimB.
