4 Drunk Driving Arrest Driver Says Alcoholism A Disability-huh?

The fact is, there are people that do not stop drinking. Lack of will power, moral fiber, addiction, genetic cause, or whatever the reason may be, they only stop when they're dead. Some of the best intentioned people when sober, will experience black outs at which point aren't in control of their actions, anything short of physically restraining them is ineffective.

By the time someone is on their 4th arrest( and that means they have endangered the public how many times and not been caught?) isn't it society's responsibility to protect itself from their actions?

A Texas man has appealed his 4th drunk driving arrested saying it's a disability. He says DUI laws discriminate and alcoholics should fall under the Americans with Disability Act.
Texas is the first State to declare alcoholism to be a disability. A new road sign has been prepared to forewarn motorists of these disabled people.

Texas takes the problem of alcoholism very seriously, a grant is being considered for a floating garage for drunks that live on a house boat.

Texas Fire & Rescue services have developed a training strategy to assist any stranded drunk driver.

This fits in with the recent passing of a law stating it is not shoplifting if the value is less than $2,000 so we see videos of people walking calmly out of stores with carts full of goodies nd nothing can be done. Then there is the problem of illegals getting in car wrecks- no drivers license, no insurance so the cops let them walk away. Add "defund the police". I think it was Oregon trying to make crime legal!!!!
As far as labeling alcoholism as a disability the difference is the person is sober then makes the conscious decision to go to their vehicle, get in and drive to the bar, get drunk by ordering too many drinks then leaves and gets behind the wheel and kills someone. Then repeats this routine over and over and over. Deliberately shooting someone is not a disability either.

I saw a cute T-Shirt a few years ago. It said:
See Dick Drink.
See Dick Drive.
See Dick Die.
Don't be a Dick.

Well, it's cute, but usually a drunk driver kills another innocent person; not himself.

Unfortunately true.

When I was young I drove a few times after drinking too much, more often I rode with drunk drivers. Fortunately no one got hurt in those incidents, thought my buddy totaled his jeep once. I was riding with him, we both got away with just a few bruises. We have learned a lot since then, I don't do it any more, and would hope that if I were younger today I would not be so foolish. There is never a need to drive drunk...
