4 horses die with in a week before Kentucky Derby

Every year horses get injured or die during or preparing for a race. Most of the high profile races in the states are ran by horses two years old or under. Hardly a guarantee they will survive the process.

If you are looking for something with a long history of abiding by the law, or extremely moral ethics, horse racing isn't first on your list. I used to live near a horse racetrack. The jockeys seemed to know who was going to win the 5th race, next Tuesday. So, horses suddenly dying could be from medical reasons, insurance, or whatever. Owners have been busy perfecting untraceable methods of predicting outcomes for centuries.

I love horses…and horse racing. When I was 18 I briefly worked on a track for a trainer. I used to follow bloodlines pretty closely…but not anymore. But…these animals are not without their own personalities. They bolt, buck, run thru fences. Sometimes they kill themselves…or their riders. A sport for the love of the race…but not without danger.
