4 year old boy - Gus, went missing on his families homestead a month ago

Today South Australian police declared the disappearance of 4-year-old, Gus Lamont a major crime.

At an update on the case, Major Crime officer in charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said police had explored three "investigation options".
They are that Gus had walked off from Oak Park Station, where he lived, that he was abducted or that someone known to him was involved in his disappearance and suspected death.

Live: Gus disappearance declared major crime, suspect identified

Sadly this story is back in the news
On Thursday, February 5, Major Crime officer in charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke held a press conference where he revealed Gus Lamont's disappearance was now considered a major crime investigation.

In a briefing, the most detailed from police since the initial disappearance, Superintendent Fielke explained the process and reasons behind the initial declared search areas and the factors in its investigation.

He said they had been exploring three "investigation options" in relation to the disappearance — that the boy walked off from Oak Park Station, that he was abducted or that someone known to him was involved in his disappearance and suspected death.

He said they had "found no evidence, physical or otherwise, to suggest that Gus has merely wandered off from the Oak Park homestead" and "no evidence to suggest that Gus was abducted from the property".

He said "inconsistencies" in the information provided to police had left them with a suspect.

"As a result of these inconsistencies, and investigations into them, a person who resides at Oak Park station has withdrawn their support for the police and is no longer cooperating with us…"
he said.
"I do want to stress, however, that Gus's parents are not suspects in his disappearance."

'Nothing off the table': Police update on search for four-year-old Gus leaves more questions than answers

The search for Gus is going nowhere.
Police said they have found no evidence in its latest search for missing boy Gus Lamont, who was reported missing on September 27.
Detectives recently inspected a water tank and an outhouse where cement had recently been laid during the latest two-day search.

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said, "I think it’s reasonably foreseeable that we will be visiting Oak Park quite frequently over the coming months as we continue our investigation as well as visiting surrounding locations in the vicinity of the residence."

Police return to Oak Park Station to search for evidence of 4-year-old, Gus Lamont.

Acting Officer in Charge of Major Crime Andrew Macrae said returning to the property was a "planned" probe in the continued effort to find clues about the missing boy.
"The recent significant weather event with the rain up there is leading to assessing what other new opportunities might exist in relation to searching, but the current searching was planned," he said.

There was a story about him in one of my news apps a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't read it. I figured you'd keep us informed about any updates, which you have done.

The investigation is going nowhere.
Though the police keep going back to the station, they are saying the parents are not considered suspects.
The police have all but ruled out Gus wandering off and getting lost as there were absolutely no tracks of any kind indicating he "wandered off"

Whatever happened to that little boy, without independent witnesses, there seems to be no evidence that he was even on the property that day. :(

Reminds me of a boy in Belgium whose grandparents last saw him. My first thought was: the grandparent did it. I searched for a pic and found this:

I only saw the first few minutes of this. A journalist comes there to talk and meets this agressive figure with a gun, who was a hunter.

Gus Lamont’s parents appeal to public for information and say ‘every moment without him is unbearable’

South Australian police initially believed he had wandered off, but after multiple extensive searches, police announced on 5 February that the case was now considered a major crime, and that they had identified an alleged suspect.

Police said the suspect was someone who lived with Gus at Oak Park station although they emphasised it was not one of his parents.

I would like to comment on this thread, but I have nothing to add. It seems that the police is doing everything they need to do or are able to do. I will say that the police’s comment that the search has now become a recovery event is most likely correct. Unless that little boy was grabbed by someone, I’m sure they are looking for the remains of a body.

I don’t know a thing about the area, but if there are animals, birds of prey and/or insects in that region, I would think they are searching for any type of forensic matter they may find. Even bones may have been moved by animals or wind. If nothing is found, that may be a good thing because the child may still be alive and is being held by an adult(s). I did read that the police do have 1 suspect, but it didn’t say who.

All we can do is pray that the police find something or that the boy shows up alive.
