I lived in a small mountain town in Colorado from the time I was 5 until I finished 8th grade. That summer my parents moved us to a larger town in Colorado where my father started a new job. I then went to a much larger high school in that area. My experience in that school was fine enjoyed those years and made many friends.
But I frequently wondered about all the kids I grew up with how they did in high school sports, who dated whom, etc. etc. I did lose touch with all of them even my best friend.
Jump forward 50 years. I was invited to my 50th high school reunion at the big high school in Colorado that I went to. We decided not to attend as we had attended the 25th and I had kept in touch with those friends I knew.
But, out of the 'blue' an old friend that I grew up with in the small town found me on the internet and invited me to their 50th reunion, he had been their Senior Class President. I was shocked at the invitation, but I had to go....as did my wife, she had herd so many stories over the years of my growing up in the small mountain town.
It was a bit uncomfortable, but it was one of the best times I have ever had. My initial meeting with everyone was in a local cafe and when I arrived most everyone was already there. I recognized some, some recognized me, but as I went around the shook hands and introduced myself, I remembered almost everyone in the room (a few had moved into town, after I left).
Everyone was super nice and most of us had stories to tell about each other. This time was priceless, some sad, as when I found out my very best friend had died in a car accident in Alaska a few years after he graduated from college. But overall, it was all happy times, life is funny how you can be away from someone for 50+ years and when you get back together it all comes back.... It was just a wonderful time and my wife also enjoyed meeting people she knew from my many stories over the years. I have kept in touch with many and hope to see a couple of them again when we start traveling again.
My advice, go to your 50th, you will be surprised! $60 bucks is no to much....!
