55 Amazing Colourized photos showing life in Rural America between early 1900's to Mid 1900's

I especially liked the one at "Buckeye Lake", near Columbus, OH. And, yes, I have been there, albeit many years ago.

Once again @hollydolly, thank you. My Mom (born 1929)grew up much the same way as many of these folks. Tenant farmers in Texas. They never went hungry, raised their own crops, animals for food and dairy. They did work very hard, even the kids were out there picking cotton, vegetables, tending the livestock.

Did anyone else notice there were not many smiles in the photos. It was hard, hard work. No luxuries. My Mom told me stories of the best days. When Grandpa would come to visit and load up the kids to go to town for an ice cream cone. When she got to go to town and buy her first real brassiere (as it was called then) at 19.

My husbands aunt told me of the time (the family ran the same type of farm) that her four brothers all saved their money to buy her first pair of highheeled shoes for her 18th birthday.

If you have these stories about relatives of yours they need to be told to every generation. It will keep them humble and thankful for all the people and things in their life today. Older generations worked hard to give us all a better life.
