6 ex Philadelphia Phillies baseball players have died from brain cancer over a 2 decade period with the commonality being their old stadium and the radar guns they used to measure pitch speed. That astroturf also mentioned as a possible cause.

I don't know although they all passed around the same age from the same era. It could be other things in common from that era, building or team. I think more players who played would have an issue although the home team is at the stadium more often. I will say a lot of teams played in new stadiums built around 1970ish and they were concrete monsters ie could it be a concrete ingredient? Also many stadiums are built in industrial areas since not many want them in their back yard.

There is now a recognised link between 'heading' a football and dementia. It seems that any kind of blow to the head causes injury serious enough to have long-lasting effects.

Brain cancer seems more common. Maybe it always was and I just didn’t know the people who passed.

Years ago, I recall reading about several police officers coming down with testicular & prostate cancer at young ages.
They were later instructed not to rest their radar guns in their laps when looking for speeders.

Baseball players rarely suffer blows to the head or brain injuries. American football players, however, frequently have concussions and there have been numerous cases of football players with CTE.
