I've watched "60 Minutes" for years, and last night they did a piece that was one of the most heart wrenching....and pertinent, for Seniors, that I can recall. It follows a Senior couple in NY, over a period of 10 years, with the wife becoming increasingly incapacitated by Alzheimer's. If you didn't see the show last night, this segment is a bit hard to watch, but it is something that many of us may well have to face some day. If you wish to view this segment, I found a recap of last night show, with no commercials, that lasts about 45 minutes. If your Internet speed is fast enough, you can fast forward over the first two segments and pick up the piece on Alzheimer's at about the 30 minute mark.

Again, this is a bit hard to watch, but very well done, and something all of us should be well aware of.

Just the other night talking to a friend about her dad & Alzheimer's which took his life some years ago now.

She said he literally went from "fine" to one night he couldn't remember how to pee...! That led to a call to the doc, which next thing she knew he was in a bed in the living room...then six weeks after that...the funeral .

Yet the lady across the street lingered for four years. Used to "escape" and walk the streets in her gown. Most everyone knew her, and would walk her home...while her poor husband was out searching. They had no cell phones...even the local kids would just take her by the hand & walk her home.

Sad damn state.........
