@hollydolly I am sorry to hijack your thread but I have a question for you that is related to it. What did you think at the time when the Sex Pistols released Anarchy in the UK ? I was very much into the punk/new wave/ska, etc movement going on in your country at the time and loved the Clash but hated the Sex Pistols. In simple terms, I thought of the Clash as being some sort of journalist who were commenting on the events at that time as they saw it while I thought of the Sex Pistols as some sort of trashy tabloid band who cared nothing about what was going on and only cared about themselves and getting as much publicity as they could.

Firstly..not my thread.. (y):)...but secondly in answer to your question.. I was not into Punk music at all in the 70's... ignored it as much as one could, despite it being all around us here.. but , that said.. if I had to listen to any it was would the Clash.. for similar reasons to you...or the Stranglers, and Pretenders.. ASAIWC the Sex Pistols were disgusting, trashy , drug addicted people.. who just screamed abuse in the name of music... all that said John Lydon, now is an intelligent guy, altho' still committed to punk music.. but now in his 60's, he's often invited to speak on topical subjects in the Media. Currently he's fighting to keep his wife who is suffering from advanced Dementia alive.. ( nothing to do with their music obvs.. but just thought I'd bring you up to speed

Zydeco music is from the Cajun area of Louisiana. It probably considered more regional, but you'll hear it in movies. It caught my attention that way. Most groups will have an accordion in the band along with what all other usual instruments. Some songs are in English & some in French because of the Cajun background.

Kind of upbeat with a blend of blues & rock-n-roll. If any one wanted to add blues to the list that's fine too. I'm kind of running out of ideas.
