88 and Dying.

I'm age 88 and my doctor told me on April 21, 2023, that I would die in one year. What would you do if you got the same information from your doctor?
Dear @Mitch86: Live each day to the full! Leave the future where it belongs! My doctor told me recently that I had cancer of the bladder! I didn't even ask him how long do I have, I am enjoying each day the Lord is giving me instead!

I can't imagine getting that information from my doctor, and I hope your doctor is wrong. I guess I would make the best of the life I had and cherish every moment. Try and do things that are positive and be with positive people if that's possible. Thinking of you Mitch and wishing you the best.

There have been so many that have been given a time limit that was not true. We are each unique in our own way. They told my husband less than one year. He had a rare cancer. He survived for 5 years and one month. During that time he continued to work. The really bad illness started about 12 weeks before he passed. I would say to you ignore the doc, live your life and be thankful for each treasured day. If we keep being afraid all the joy of each day is taken away.

I was required to get a physical when going back to the University, which ended up at a hospital where two different doctors told me I'd be dead in less than a month if I didn't agree to go through their toxic program of treatments in which case they said I'd have a 50 percent to make it 5 years. That didn't make any sense, so I told them to shove it and walked out. That was in 1978. I've not been a doctor since then and am perfectly fine. Doctors are irresponsible liars with no souls. The less that people go to doctors, the better their chances to live long healthy lives.

As hard as it is, I would make sure all my "end of life" work is in place. Make sure your will or trust is up to date and funeral plans made. All important papers in one place and tell your most trusted family member where everything is. It is most important that your wishes are followed. Having this done takes away a lot of the stress in the time you have left.
After that, I don't know what I would do. Sure does make me think about it though.

Hummmmm. Well I would try to die broke. If you can still go places pick the ones that have the reputation for the best. The best art…musical programing…food. Make it a point to truly sincerely tell your friends, family and neighbors what you find extraordinary about them. Listen to good books. Take apart a rose to see how it is made…then a clock. Live! Then in five years when ypu look back you can feel a bit of peace.

What would I do?
I'm 82 & I understand there is no guarantee that I will live to see tomorrow. My approach to life is to live each day as if it is my last. Dwelling on predicted death or the aches & pains of old age just isn't helpful.
