A blast from the past....

I received an e mail earlier this evening from an elderly lady I met by chance years ago, sitting on a bench by the sea, she was on holiday and, as her hotel was on my way home, I walked back with her, we were enjoying our chat so much we stopped for a cup of tea and swapped e mail address’s

As so often happens, the e mails gradually fizzled out, and to be honest I wondered if she may have passed away, therefore it was a lovely surprise to hear from her again

Have you ever had a ‘blast from the past’ ?

The most recent was a friend request on FB from a person that I worked with over 14 years ago, I declined. Why now after all of these years, what's the point.

Every couple of years I do get a call from an old friend that brightens my day. He knows that I will never initiate a call to him because I hate to bother people and I have an amazing knack for always calling at the wrong time. He is one of my last true friends that understands and makes allowances for my quirks and foibles.

I did bump into someone I was at school with on the train a couple of years back.He recognised me-some feat after over forty years-but he had to tell me who he was.At least his name meant something to me!

Happens to me on facebook all the time. Sometimes we get together, sometimes not, but it's so nice to reacquaint with old friends, neighbors, and classmates.

My Granny told me when I was young, "After you have moved
on never go back, because everything will have changed"!

I never thought much or anything about that statement for
years, then one time I did go back, I met an old school friend
in a bar, the meeting was a waste of time and neither of us
hit it off.

So then I thought that my Granny's saying applies equally to
people as it does to places and I have never gone back seeking
old friends.

I do have friends from the past, but their link was never broken
and we always kept in touch.

Mike.

Facebook is a strange place. It seems to be a haven for long lost friends appearing. I have had several people (old neighbors, co-workers, distant relatives, and classmates) over the last few years saying 'Hi', .. even heard from my 9th grade boyfriend.
