A Bowl of Cereal at Night?

I can remember as a child my sister and I spent a week with our grandparents. For breakfast my grandmother gave us a bowl of Grape Nut. I loved it and have even searched the internet for where I can get it. They say it is available only in America, not anywhere in Australia. Has anyone here ever tasted it or bought it?

My mom used to buy it and I poured a pile of sugar on the mound of cereal. Kind of defeated the purpose I guess.

They’re not even available in Canada anymore.

I seldom eat anything before 11 am. An occasional southwestern Omelet or bacon sammich is great.
I had enough of cereals as a kid. Toast sammich is good. I'm a dipper, Hoagy buns, French Bread and
Good stews / soups are my desire.

Amazon has Grape Nuts offered. Their made from malted flour, maybe homemade are better.

I just finished my Corn Flakes, I'm set for the evening.

I forgot to mention the best part...

Drinking the milk left over at the bottom of the bowl when you've finished the cereal!!!

I pour a little extra in at the beginning,
so there'll be just a skosh more to enjoy at the end. ;)

Not even a bowl of....

Those look so good right about now! It's 7:30 p.m. Haven't bought sweetened cereals in a long time.

Wisenior, I don't see why not eat cereal at night. I never let the time of day dictate what I eat to satisfy my tastebuds. It's not unheard of for me to have a bowl of Cheerios at night. In fact, since I don't know what else to eat and don't feel like cooking, I think I'll have a bowl right now.
😛

I don't think highly sugared cereals are that great for you - but can't see how ones like weetbix, cornflakes and co are that nutritionally different to crackers or cheese nutritionally different to milk.🙅‍♀️

Most cereals are high in carbohydrates and milk (unless it's low-fat) is high in fat and spikes your blood sugar.

Like anything, in moderation it's not bad, but I just stay away from it altogether.

It's here allright and I hate it!! My mother had to stop buying it because we wouldn't eat it as kids. Maybe you could oeder a big case from a store like Target or something.

paper tiger: thanks for putting that lady up making Grape Nut cereal. I don't think I would be bothered making it. . I'd rather check out Amazon.

well so are crackers - they are just carbohydrates too. and cheese is high in fat too

no need for anyone to eat cereal or milk if they dont want to, of course stay away from them if you want to - my point is that your preferred snack of crackers and cheese is really no different nutritionally than weetbix and milk.

But I don't eat that many of them.

A bowl of cereal in milk is way higher in sugar and carbs etc, than a few small crackers and a few little squares of cheese.

Yep... it's like a snack to me about once a week ... I usually add grapes or raisins ..sliced banana makes it too filling..

I like frosties best or cheerios.. but this last month I've been having Kit-Kat cereal..it's delicious

I also like Oatibix, but I never eat high fibre cereals other than at breakfast
I wish you hadn't told me about that. Now I'm going to be checking my local market to see if they're carrying it. The problem with my daughter getting my groceries after I make a list online that I give her access to to shop for me is I miss anything new that comes along. I love Kit Kat bars and cereal. This seems a no brainer that is very, very bad for me.

Sure. What's wrong with cereal for supper? Actually I don't like to take the trash out after dark so I have my biggest meal at noon. I obviously don't want stinky garbage sitting overnight. Cereal doesn't stink. Perfect.
