A cautionary tale; please don't let this put you off posting....

Like with anything there is always those who will abuse. Doesn't make it ok, especially for those who are hurt. It is just one of those realities that is sad but true. Don't know how you would even begin to police this, or if it is even possible.

Yes, this is the Chinese equivalent of Anonymous.

Crowd-sourced insanity.

Like any mob the original idea of one person might be right, but let the snow-ball start rolling and it loses all similarity to that idea. It becomes an organic thing, in and of itself.

Remember also that China's Internet is relatively isolated - with few exceptions we cannot access it, just as the Chinese population cannot easily access the rest of the "real" 'Net. That makes for a closed-loop system, a "coliseum" of sorts, wherein only the strong will survive.

... actually, that sounds like OUR Internet as well ... :(

Trouble is......I was thinking that too, Phil.

Trouble is......I was thinking that too, Phil.

Certainly I've seen it happen in forums - a sort of micro-verse of the entire 'Net.

It's scary when you're the target, because nothing you say or do will turn that crowd aside. All you can do is run. I'd be interested to know how it all turned out for that cab driver, seeing as how he tried to protest his innocence.

Usually that just leads to more attacks ...

Please watch my back, Phil.....I would offer to watch yours, but I don't think you need me to!
