A Christmas story

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves weren't producing toys as quickly, and Santa began to feel the pre-Christmas pressure. Then, Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even further.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that 3 of them were about to give birth, and two of them had jumped the fence and run off.

Then, when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked and scattered the toys all over the ground.

Frustrated, Santa went back to the house for a drink of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had drank all the cider, and hid the rum.

He dropped the cider jug, and it broke into dozens of pieces all over the floor. When he went to get the broom to sweep it up, he found that the mice had eaten all the straw off the broom.

Just then, the doorbell rang and an irritated Santa marched to the door, jerked it open, and there stood a little angel with a big Christmas tree.

The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa, isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you...where would you like me to stick it?"

And thus, began the tradition of a little angel on top of the Christmas tree.
