A cool ride on a parade float

It was unseasonably cool and rainy for our town's parade yesterday afternoon. It was a good thing I got out my winter coat, hat and gloves. Even with that, it was pretty cold riding around. I felt sorry for the people up front because the tractor pulling it was throwing up water from the rain in the road.

What was the occasion for the parade, Deb? What was the theme of the float?

Memorial Day was the occasion and it was the church's float, or more accurately, a trolley. This is a photo of it a few years ago a friend took a pic and sent it to me.

67 here and have yet to go to a parade in person. Not including all the military parades I had to do. Although I did watch a few minutes of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on tv a several decades ago.

I used to live right on the parade route - not anymore.

I, too, used to live right on the parade route. Main St. Love the marching bands, the fire engines, just everything about them.

I've even been in a few of them, in high school. The homecoming parade would put the whole football team on a float.

Living in New York City for years, I have seen all types of parades. Some I personally attended, others I stumbled upon when I was out and about. One I stumbled upon while walking in Manhattan one day was the Gay Pride parade. A float went by with an elderly woman on. There was a banner on the float that said, " Grandmothers for Gays!".

I didn't watch it, I was participating, so I don't have a photo of Friday's parade.

Wen my daughter was young, she was a majorette, and they always led the Carnival floats....

This is her nearest the camera.. age 8... poor photo but it was 40 years ago and at this point they were marching through the town centre...
