"A date which will live in infamy"......FDR

Well, we paid them back in full and now drive Toyotas...

My dad told me to never buy a foreign car from any country. My wife never made that promise, so she didn't abide by it. Needless to say, it did not sit well with my Pop. But my dad still loved her, so all was well.

My parents every year on this date would tell the story of where they were on that day and how they first heard what had happened. They were in church in Arkansas, and the preacher announced it from the pulpit. I was still 5 years in the future.

Every year I remember Pearl Harbor.

I was long from being born, but always found the speak moving. I especially liked that FDR changed the original wording from a "date which will live in world history" to "a date that will live in infamy" It carried more weight and made a greater impact. My mother also told me about hearing the news that Sunday. She was little. Dad was a teenager and eager to go to war. Scary times for everyone in America.

It matters not what you buy today, all or PART of it is made in a foreign country.

I think my dad's concern was that when we buy American cars all of the money stays in America. When a person buys a Japanese or German, or other foreign car, the profit money goes back home. I can't argue with his logic one way or another because I never looked into it and really don't care.
