A dish with your soap?

I remember them. My Mom collected a different set from a food store. They were white with gray stripes and pretty modern for back in the 50's. You saved you receipts and then could pick the pieces you want. I remember she was so mad because she was able to collect a whole set but they discontinued the offer before she could get the gravy boat. We heard about it every single time she used the dishes.

Several families I knew had that wheat pattern. We didn't. Here ya go, Ruth!

We had a set of those and a lot of Duz soap hidden away so my father wouldn't find out how much the free dishes actually cost!

When I was in my teens my mother got a set of these knock-offs of Haviland china from the grocery store with some sort of purchase points promotion.

So dainty Aunt Bea!

When I was first married I collected a set of china too, at the supermarket, but can't find an image of it. Plates were white bordered by a dark green pattern.

I got a set of silverware from the grocery store about forty years ago. You got a certain number of pieces free each week with purchase and the opportunity to buy more at a reduced rate.

Remember when you used to get dishes, silverware, toasters, etc. when you opened a new account at the bank?
