Just back from Germany. Here are a few pix to be going on with.

Rudesheim. Only a small town, but one of the best small traditional markets. Attracts loads of tourists by coach or river boat.

There is a cable car that runs over the vineyards of the Rhinegau region.
Note the high water level in the Rhine.

I think people in the 'old country' do a much better job of greeting the Yule Tide season than we Americans. Here it is ever changing as if we are all reaching for some new goal this year compared to the last. There is more satisfaction with the tradition of Christmas in the old countries. It can get dizzingly confusing here in the 'States.

Thanks for sharing. Did you spend lots?
YES! In fact we came to the conclusion that the Christmas markets (which we love) are maybe just an excuse for a shopping spree.
Quite a few large department stores have disappeared from the UK, so going to Europe gives us the chance to stock up on all sorts of things.
Empty suitcase going - full case coming back:)
