Some old and dear friends have been caravaning across the 'top end' as we call it outback ozzie? - we go back 62 years - some do? - some have had to catch up!

They will never drive past without calling in no matter how difficult or easy - this time it was moderately difficult but still achieved with 'all hands on deck'.

They had been over East - and I mean real East - like Eastern States OZ and I and they live in Western Oz - so they caravan across the entire width of Oz - not in one day!

This time I knew it was to be different - 1. I live in the middle of a forest and it is closing in fast! 2. We are all getting older and less agile and 3. We had a ZOOM funeral to attend. This will be a short thread but please interject with questions and polite comments - I will continue for a while!

I/We had the usual phone contacts = " where are you know exactly? - OK - how long will it take you to get here? - oh I've lost your street address what is it now? - I am towing a large caravan where can I park? etc

TBC

it seems that mobile phones can be useful at times? - "D we have arrived and are parked in front of your house" Me "yes but I told you it is rented out - juset stay there I will be around soon - why do people never listen carefully - I told them where I was now!!! - there he is reversing his car and caravan out of the space he is not supposed to be in and can see me waving my arms in the air!! - well at least we are nearly within hand shaking - shoulder tapping distance!!

Ok got him goin in the right direction and now he just has to drive through overhanging branches and 'round a sharp bend and park right outside my granny flat!!

hand shakes and hugs and then connect his hose to my outside tap for his caravan kitchen and electrics cord to outside plug for electrices - no I won't charge him this time - introduced to the dog - that's important he needs to be included and loved the whole two days! - cooking easy meals - outdoor snacks and bourbons and beers. Watched the zoom funeral which chocked me up a lot but they seemed to cope better - then a trip into town for shopping and pub lunch whiz around town for old memories sake - he had a romance here mamy moons ago - and his wife is very understanding!. Seen them off this morn and he got out with a hairs whisper from overhanging branches and someone elses caravan awning - all good precision stuff and fun and that was it - gee its gone awfully quiet again today! finished the bourbon which the zoom again and then hit the sack for a few hrs!!

ps: remember having some deep and meaningful discussions about how the decisions we make along the way from teens onwards changes the course of our lives sometimes for the better and other times not so - we should teach A level topics about this in kindergarten school!

I’m slow so it took me reading this over three times to understand what it was about.
I hope you had a great time with these friends you’ve known for 62 years. That is a long friendship and it was mighty nice of you to house them for a few days.

thanks PP they are special and if I needed would almost do anything for me - we are so close we could almost live together now but I wouldn't want to spoil their romance!! - she did have a crush on me once but I wouldn't wanna spread that around too much - what is that funny french condition a menage a trois - now at our age that could be fun - ok your turn now this week!
