A Few Extra Pounds Healthier?
Thanks @JonSR77 this is very interesting, and relevant to me.

I have struggled with my weight all my life, had some success of late, but am still at a BMI of about 26 to 27, in the "overweight" range. When I have been able to drop below 25, out of that range I have not felt as good. Maybe I should be happy with my 26/27!

I don't know about a few extra pounds being healthier but I have noticed time and time again that people who do have those extra pounds tend to look better as we age. People who are too think start to look drawn and older than their years as they age. They may even have more face wrinkles. I'll take my few extra pounds...even though I need to lose a few of them to make it the right amount of "few".

Here is another link, a good peer reviewed study, but a harder read. Says more or less the same, a few extra pounds are better than being underweight, and not so bad.

I agree, I think losing weight has made me look older...

I think it goes to the body's "starvation" response. If you frequently go long periods without food, you really strain the body. If you do that constantly, you can wear the body down.

It's certainly going to the entirety of it all, not just weight. Healthy diet, sleeping enough, proper exercise. Thin alone without tending to the general needs of health, is not going to be wise.

Maybe for some

Not for me

I'm on the happy side of 210 lbs

Comfy is a good word

Being able to do things without grunting is rather nice
