A Florida Keys girl was being attacked by pit bulls. Her neighbor is getting a medal

When his neighbor was in danger one day in 2018, Donald Lowrie raced right into the fight.

Now Lowrie, 50, is being celebrated as a national hero for rescuing the 8-year-old girl who was being attacked in her home by two pit bulls.

I've never understood why someone would have a vicious dog...especially a pit bull...in a neighborhood setting. Such dogs can "erupt" suddenly, especially if they come in contact with a young child.

Many choose that breed because they want to show that their Pit Bull is "Special" "Different" or they're out to prove that the bias & perception of Pit Bulls is wrong & unfair. They often proudly show photos & videos of their Pit Bull snuggling with their young children, kitten, baby chicks, etc.

Bad pit bull, big weapon, massive truck - - they all help people with other - uh - inadequacies. Makes 'em bigger and tougher even if none of these things are actually needed.

Perception is everything to some folks.

They're all nice dogs - right up until the moment they snap.
And once they start, they don't stop.

I met woman a long time ago that had a pit bull that was formerly a fighting dog. It had the scars to prove it did not fare well in it battles. I would never trust any pit bull let alone a former fighter that was reprogrammed not to rip the owner to shreds.
