A flower a day ...

You know, leaves deserve a thread of their own. I started a group on Flickr called Fabulous Foliage. It is still going though I don't moderate it or participate in anything there any more. If I start a thread for them here would you be interested?
I’d be interested in a thread about interesting foliage. Dusty miller, Coleus, etcIMG_7237.jpegIMG_7238.jpeg

One of Australia’s most famous desert wildflowers, Sturt’s Desert Pea is found across inland arid regions of Australia.
It is the South Australian Floral Emblem.
One of the most recognised Australian native plants, Sturt’s Desert Pea thrives in red sandy soil and has vibrant red leaf-shaped flowers with a black centre, known as a ‘boss’

I have a pottery tea set with the Sturt's Desert Pea on it, that I bought in a small town in S.A., near Adelaide. The flower is so unique. I love it!

Ok these flowers are definitely unique but beautiful? Not to my eyes or my husbands. In fact, sorry but I find them on the ugly side.
Is that ok to say?

Cause …it is … @PeppermintPatty …..some plants / flowers others describe as stunning are just awful in my eyes

on example would be succulents that grow in trees ….let..me think Bromeliads … …in Queensland the grow in front yards / no sun protection …in SA they’d fry to crisp brown in 1/2 day….

South Australia’s yearly show has allot of different plants in huge pavilions and you see some oh and arin* over these plants ..even the flowers of there do nothing for me ..give me a nice fern or begonias Anyday ….
I had a couple of stunning variegated monsteras a thi consultation and a mainly white one they were stunning while small but once they grew they were plain ugly …lots of ugly roots …so I sold them about 12 months ago
Got $460 for one a d $500 for the other ..don’t think I’ve even got any photos left

Thank you for understanding. I felt horrible saying it but felt even more horrible not sharing my truth. Not that my opinion really matters all that much. It just goes to show how different we all are. I’m not all that impressed with cactus flowers either Kadee. lol 😝

We should be all able to express our likes and dislikes …. just like we would with food
I’m not a real fan of cactus but don’t mind a few succulents like the one I posted with the orangey / pink flowers
Many I know don't like the simple old fashioned geraniums ..I like pretty one’s I’ve got …I’ve got a couple of small ones flowering now I think they are beautiful
I’ll go take a photo before it gets dark ..it’s almost 8 pm here

Hey truth is truth whether you share it or keep it to yourself. I find myself favorably disposed to plants that surprise me whether that is because they look unusual or even absurd. Sometimes the novel ones will come to look beautiful to me over time, other times they just look comical. Either way, I'm happy. ;)

One of the least thirsty of flowers and great in rarely watered baskets or pots. I've got some I like too.

Here is the flower of that passion vine, membranacea. Passion vine enthusiast go nuts for it online because many grow theirs in greenhouses but this one doesn't want extra heat and gets huge. I used to cut it back to the fence it grew beside every other year and take a full truck load to the dump.

An old video which shows just how heavily it would flower. It liked having some foliage in the sun but most flowers in the shade below.

They look like some type of mysterious looking lily. They are attractive looking.
