A friend was murdered

A quiet friend of mine had just retired few months ago, and had his retirement all planned out to spend time with his wife, and hang out with his three boys. Near the end of September he got in his truck to head to the city for a doctors appointment.

He was only a couple of miles from home, when this car began charging up to his bumper, back off, and charge it again. This went on for about a mile. My Buddy, pulled over to see what was his problem. When the passenger jumped out of his car, jumped in the truck and stabbed my Buddy several times...

He was able to call his wife and tell her he thought he was dying, and needed an ambulance before he lost his conscience and never woke up again. He was rushed to the hospital where he spent the next two weeks on life support. and then passed away.

Why are we killing each other, this was a quiet little town, that never saw this kind of stuff... Why are people killing people for NO reason... What is wrong with the world today?

This past weekend, I went to his celebration of life, and the room was full of people describing my Buddy as a very caring, and helpful person. The town he lived in said they lost a very good man, that was like a McGuyer in helping anyone who would ask for help or needed help.

The murderer is still on the loose. Not sure they'll ever catch these guys, really no witness's except they do have a run on the looks of the sedan they were driving. This happened in a rural town, in the middle of daylight...

I understand your point. But as a former investigator here in Ontario, I know that the more people who are aware of the case, the better chance that a lead maybe forthcoming. I am sure that every home and business in the area, that has video cameras is being canvased by the homicide unit, or has all ready been checked. Your friend sounds like a great guy, who was well liked by all.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Mike. This is horrible news. Itā€™s extra sad that heā€™d just recently retired . How horrible. May he rest in peace. His poor wife and children.šŸ˜•
 
I am so sorry for the tragic loss of your friend.

Something similar happened in my county last year, but it was a vehicle with teenagers - the girl in the passenger seat lost her life.

Thanks to a reward and to security cams in the surrounding area, the 50-something road rage filled man got caught.

Further north of me, a nurse was also shot and killed on her way to work at the hospital a few years back. Nobody ever thought the perpetrator(s) would be caught, but a $100,000 reward gets lips moving that otherwise wouldnā€™t.

Enough money talks and the ā€œfriendsā€ of these sorts of excuses for humans will roll on them in a skinny minute, if thereā€™s enough money.

I hope they catch the sob.
 
Mike, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. A very nice and well-loved man was murdered in a terrible and senseless way. He'll be sorely missed by many. I hope they apprehend the bastards that did this. Hugs to you, my friend, and condolences to his family.
 
Some facts about the Ottawa city Police homicide unit. In 2023 there were 15 homicide cases in the city. AS of today, 12 of those cases have been solved, with persons charged and before the courts. Remember that Ottawa is the National Capital City of Canada. Solving 12 out of 15 murder cases is a pretty high clearance rate for a year. Another major Canadian city, Quebec City, went two full years without a murder, a few years ago.

WoW, I am so sorry for your losses, I only really know of this one, and it still bothers me when I think how people can take a life when they feel they can... it is just horrible...
 
I have a friend that was hiking along the river about two years ago. He was randomly attacked and stabbed several times, although he survived. During the attack he was able to get to his bear spray and give the attacker a snoot full of spray. Then he hiked out and drove to the hospital where they saved him. He called 911 from his car on his way to the hospital, and the police were dispatched to the area where the attack occurred. They arrested the guy with the knife, who had my friend's blood still on him. There was no motive, and I never found out what happened to the attacker. I'm guessing he was just crazy. He was from out of town.
