A Funny Thing Happened To Me...

True story happened yesterday. After an all-nighter of doing paperwork I found someone had stolen from me big time. Several other things happened and I was exhausted and downtrodden beyond repair...I thought. At the end of this grueling day, I stopped to buy some groceries.

As I was wheeling my cart through the parking lot, an old man, not much older than me...or same age maybe:giggle:, who was a complete stranger (his wife ahead ignoring him who never looked back) approached me with a huge smile, rosy cheeks, a twinkle in his eye, white hair and full of life. He must have taken one look at pathetic me and decided to step into action...literally. He came over and said really loud...

"Hey, I'm going to make your day and do my moon-walking for you, okay? I was not amused in my "condition" but how could I say No.
He turned backwards, bent his arms at the elbows, hands stiff and flat moving like a choo choo train and, Good Lord!...he could really do it !!

I smiled, laughed, praised his skills, thanked him and told him that made my day for sure. He hurried back to his wife to help her open their car door. All of a sudden I felt lighter, my woes were "just life", I was going to make it through this drama after all...and focused back on how the good people outweigh the bad.

What funny thing has happened to you?

A few years ago, I parked too close to a fence post & my car door couldn't be opened enough to easily get out. While I squeezed out, I didn't notice that an elderly lady was watching me from a few feet away.
After I got out, she said, "You're lucky you're thin." She couldn't possibly have realized what a compliment that was because she didn't know about my weight history (405 lbs 35 years ago). I thanked her & it did make my day.

@Lara , Your description of the gentleman sounds exactly like our @timoc …. 😆

My wife went to have our car inspected, the lady in front of her asked if they gave a senior discount. The owner said sure and took $5 off her tab.

When it was my wife's turn to pay she asked for the discount, the owner asked her if she was old enough and said she looked 55 years old.. She is 77..

She could hardly wait to tell me when she got home and was happy all day..

Back in November,I drove to California to pick up my Great Pyrenees from my friend`s rescue ranch. She had been keeping her for me during our move and until we found a house to buy. I went by myself as Mr. Robinson needed to stay here and finish the fencing for her.

On my way home,I stopped for gas in this tiny town and then took Gigi out to a vacant lot behind the station to potty. Suddenly, this old pickup truck came flying up and this man jumped out and ran over to me with a cast iron tea kettle in his hand. Apparently,he just wanted to show somebody-anybody-his great find. As a lover of cast iron,I have to say I was impressed with his find. The kettle was obviously very old but had a beautiful patina on it-not at all rusted out. I wished he was looking for someone to give it to lol.

He then proceeded to tell me that he was 81 and showed me his muscles-saying "I`ll bet your husband can`t do this",making his muscles jump.I said "Oh,I`ll bet he can! Gotta run!" and got myself and Gigi into the truck fast. He was probably harmless but we really were out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the high desert in Nevada.

Yikes! Showing you his Kettle was so random Mrs R ...not to mention his muscles...who does that lol. The fact that he mentioned your husband would surely be a red flag because he may have been baiting you to say "Oh I haven't got a husband". You did the right thing!!

Thank you Jules. It's huge and I fell apart when I first discovered it.
But then that moonwalking scene was so out of the norm that it jolted me out of my dark funk.

A peace came over me and my faith kicked in.
I know I'm not alone and I trust it will be taken care of in the end.

I got to thinking about the moonwalker's "wife" who never noticed us and kept walking away to her car.
Now, I don't think she was his wife. She was bent over her cart and moving away very slowly to her car. When the moonwalker left me I think I noticed him helping her into the drivers seat of the car.

So now I'm thinking he was helping her too. I never saw him get in the car but he could have.
