A glitch in the Matrix moment

Have you ever had a glitch in the Matrix moment?
One website describes it as "a small but puzzling occurrence that has no logical explanation".

I had one a long time ago. I was walking around town, minding my own business, when I saw a person who looked exactly like me, wearing the same uniform, walking down the steps out of the city hall. I remember just being stunned while watching him walk away out of sight. And there was nobody that fit my exact description working in my PD at the time. Maybe a doppelgänger? An alien? A glimpse of a parallel universe? Or maybe I was just daydreaming. o_O

I've had a couple of moments such as you describe. One was seeing my father-in-law's doppleganger in a car that was passing me, shortly after he passed away. It was in slow motion, as he looked straight at me. After a few seconds of shock, I looked in the side-mirror and turned around to look for the car - nothing to be seen. Not a car in sight.

That's what it felt like to me too.

I was going down a street that had several stop signs. As I went through the first one a guy came out into his yard carrying a rake. He looked up briefly as I passed by. As I was getting ready to stop at the third stop sign, a guy came out into his yard with a rake who looked like, and was dressed the same as, the first guy. This time the guy stopped short and stared as I went by in slow motion. Same as with Pinky I looked in the rearview mirror and no one was there. Interesting, but what can one do about it?

Too much whacky-tabaccky maybe.

Another theory I have about this is that there was a time distortion going on. I saw my past or future self since I had been up and down those steps regularly so many times before. And in your case, seeing the past being repeated. I, of course, have nothing to support this. Just thinking about loud.

Me and a buddy of mine were in Okinawa (to do some scuba diving) and we were driving down this winding, narrow road that had hills on one side and a steep embankment on the other that sloped down toward the sea, and I was watching this guy on a really cool old motorcycle about 30 feet ahead of us. The bike started to wobble and the guy quickly lost control of it and slid off the road, crashing down the embankment.

I yelled for my buddy to Stop! Stop the car! and he was all "What's wrong?"
And I said "We gotta help that guy!"
"What guy?"
"The one that just went off the cliff!"

My buddy looked like he had no idea what I was going on about, but he pulled over and I ran to the edge of the road to look for this guy and his bike. My buddy walked up next to me, and he looked over the edge too, but only briefly. He still had this puzzled look on his face, and I got angry and yelled at him, "They should put a [****ing] guardrail along this [****ing] road!"

My buddy sat on the 2 1/2 ft tall stone wall that WAS the guardrail that I somehow hadn't noticed. I mean, it just wasn't there before he sat on it. He looked at me all worried then, and said there was no guy on an old motorcycle. He didn't see him, but I knew I had, so I went down the embankment and looked all around but I couldn't find the guy or his bike, or even skid marks or a dust cloud, or anything. My buddy insisted there was no guy, no bike, and that whole thing just didn't even happen.

When I stomped back to the car he said, "Hey, man, you ok?"
Me; "I don't wanna [****ing] talk about it!"
🤪

Maybe I dreamed it, but if I'd fallen alseep in the car, I'm pretty sure my buddy would have said so. If not then, later over drinks for sure.

Enjoying all the stories so far.

That was very intense!

I read some government research (link below) on this a couple of years ago that actually started with Freud. I was trying to figure out why I was experiencing the "unexplainable" happenings somewhat like you all are discussing here. Mine started with a very traumatic fall that took me over a year to heal from...more like 2 years

I read that exposure to a traumatic event is likely to result in distressing trauma-related memories which may be confusing to the individual to identify these intrusive* phenomena as memory associated with clairvoyance and telepathy. Also for PTSD.

This government study is called "Theoretical Accounts of Trauma Memories and Hallucinations". It's long and intense to read. You may want to scroll down to the paragraph that starts "Steel et al. (2005)". It continues with more recent studies as well as how to maybe treat it by "rewriting an ending to the traumatic event" they they are still researching.

* "intrusive" here is meaning that the intrusive phenomena that happens is involuntary and when least expected

Yes had several of them in my lifetime but one in particular does stand out from many years ago

I was in a large well known furniture store with a friend who was purchasing some end tables.
While she was at the counter arranging the sale I wandered around and saw a young man who immediately struck me as rather odd as his suit had very broad shoulders and wide legs much like the style of a few decades ago. He also seemed very familiar to me. Nice looking chap he was too..

Anyway we got chatting and it seemed while we were chatting everything else sort of faded into the background. He thought he knew me too so we went through our parents' names but nothing matched. His name was Bill and he said he knew mine before I even told him. We went through the names of some friends and again nothing matched but we did feel a connection. Then my friend came and we said goodbye. I remember feeling a bit sad at the time. She said there was no one else there when I discussed it with her. Just the salesman who attended her.

About a week later we go back to the store to pick up her tables and I was looking around for Bill. I asked the salesman where he was and he said they had no sales person by the name of Bill.

So to cut long story short ...seems the furniture shop was at one time owned by a William Thomas and was called Thomas Fine Furniture. He had two sons who ran the business with him and yes one of them was named Bill.

Sounds like Bill still couldn't let go of the store after all those years.

The store we shopped in was established in 1974. I had never been in the old store so how could we know each other.

I don't believe in ghosts and prefer to think of that experience and others I have had as a trip back in time.
It is theoretically possible.

Okay. Does anyone have any personal ghost stories to share?
Not sure if this classifies as a ghost story, or what. Many years ago I was napping on the couch. Woke up to see a shaddowy image moving across the room. I immediately flashed on my mom, who had died about 4-5 years prior. I had just recently moved there and wondered if she was coming to check it out.

In 2017, while at a beach resort with some friends, I excused myself to visit the resort restroom. I knew that I was the only one in the 4-cubicle restroom. As I sat in the toilet, I heard a moan/groan, like that of a female who was in pain. I asked, "Who's there?". The same groan again. I realized that the acoustic quality of the sound somehow did not seem to be in the same room nor in the same realm. It sounded like it was coming from a world beyond. Needless to say, I freaked out and ran out of there as fast as I could. The resort staff confirmed that there is a "presence" in that restroom. They agreed to have another blessing ceremony by the parish priest. They said that it's been blessed many times, prayers, masses and all, but the spirit just never seems to receive what it needs to forever rest in peace.

Apologies to the OP for the thread hijack, I'll make it brief.

Here's a couple posts I made to the thread- Do you have any questions about Angels?
Back in the early '90s I saw an other worldly being while working in a vacated county jail. Some kind of spirit being, it looked female. It was a translucent white moving image, had some kind of clothing that looked like it was blowing in a breeze, yet there was no actual moving air. I could see it's face, which looked anguished. Myself and other employees encountered numerous other worldly beings at that facility.

Well, I'm not one to scare easily, but it felt like I was injected with ice water, I turned and quickly left the area where I had seen the whitish aberration.
In later experiences I mostly heard sounds of metallic objects crashing(like metal office desks) in areas that did not have those objects. Or, the rattling of steel jail bars, the slamming of jail doors that couldn't be shut, because we had secured them in the open position with chain. We did that so that people that came into the jail while vacated wouldn't accidentally get locked in. We carried HTs(radios) but the building is solid concrete and steel, and radio transmissions were weak, or outright blocked by the physical structure.
I should probably start a "ghost stories" thread, as there were many many occurrences during the 3 years that the jail was not in-service.

When I first read the title of the topic of this post I thought of something that happens to me occasionally but the conversation went in a different direction. So my response may be off topic a bit but the title describe it perfectly. It has happened quite a few times throughout my life. There is no rhyme or reason to it and it happens in a micro second of time. Just long enough to register in my mind that it has happened. It can be disconcerting when it happens. I will attempt to describe it here. While meandering through my day for just a moment in time reality seems to skip. I can only compare it to a vinyl record skipping. It feels like time/reality has reset. Afterwards everything just rolls along as usual. As I mentioned there is no formula or prerequisite to it. It just happens. It seems very odd to me that his thread title took me right to the thought of it. I do not remember ever consciously thinking about it at any time other than the moment it happens. Because of that I have never done any research on it. I tried to google it before I wrote this response but it is very hard to create a clear and concise query on the subject?

Your description fits. It sounds like you are out of sync with reality (as we know it) for a split second at a time. I think there's a real science theory behind that.

I have attempted to find out something/anything about this on the net with no success. The problem is how to ask the question................😆
