A heat wave in the northern hemisphere

I refuse to complain about the heat. Just a few short months ago it was dark until mid-morning and then again by mid-afternoon. Even the shortest trip outside required putting on a parka, muffler, cap and gloves. Clearing snow in a brisk 10 degree (F) wind. Driving on icy roads. High monthly heating bills.

No, I'm busy stockpiling memories of these nice hot days to reflect on throughout the coming winter. :D

Perhaps the biggest "threat" from excessive heat in Siberia, and the northern frozen tundra, is the release of Methane....a far more dangerous GreenHouse gas than the carbon emissions released from burning fossil fuels. There are vast amounts of this gas locked up in the frozen tundra and ocean depths, and as the climate warms, the release of Methane will increase exponentially....thus, driving temperatures even higher.

Rising oceans, and excessive temperatures during the Summer months are an almost certainty for the future....no matter what kind of restrictions may be placed on fossil fuels and coal, etc. We are already at, or very near, the tipping point.

The grass in my yard is just like shredded wheat - yellow, dry and crispy. The ground in exposed places is cracking like you see in photos of the desert. All I need os a cow skull in my yard.

Guess this says it better than I could:

You're kidding??? That's about 25 degrees above my comfort zone. As soon as it hits 80, my internal alarm bell sounds. We used to leave Florida (Ft. Myers area) on the first week in April. guess it was a good choice (at least for us).

It tickled 90 here in coastal New England the last couple of days and that's had me hugging the A/C.😦

There's also how little rain, many areas have gotten, for the past few months.
