A 'hopeless' feeling: Struggling seniors face sky-high rents and few, if any, options

I remember renting a warm winter vacation 2-bedroom apartment in 2006. $325 a month.
It steadily increased until I ended the Rental in 2013 $575 a month. Near $7000 a year.
A month at a Motel was $1200. .......... $2400 for January and February stay. Went to South
Florida in 2011 and experienced the 80 mph straight line winds near Miami. I haven't gone
Back to Florida since 2017. Pensacola / Santa Rosa County didn't seem all that great to me.
Was in Cal. once for a couple of weeks, never went back. Arizona 3 times, nada.

This was mentioned on TV again last week …..after it was bought up about 3 years ago

Older Australians encouraged to free up housing for younger families

It’s about encouraging seniors to move out of their 3-4 bedroom homes and move into smaller homes or retirement villages, so it takes the pressure off the government how to house new arrivals in this country as well as the homeless …….. ( a big fat NO THANK YOU ) for us ….the only we’d move if we was incapable of taking care of ourselves
and the government can keep its slimy…. hands off OUR home

Well then, how about the government pay for YOUR new smaller home?

I would love to get out of this 3-bedroom house and 1-acre lot and into something even just a little bit smaller and I think it makes total sense: why in the brown-eyed world do 2 old people like us need all this space?! (We don't.)

But my Huzz refuses to move. He grew up dirt poor (lived in their car sometimes) so I guess that's why he's clutching so hard onto this darn place. (That's the trouble with too much economic inequality; it makes some people care too much about the wrong things.)

Why don't the youth want to come and live at our place wid us. Because!
There is absolutely no reason for a senior citizen to give a crap about where an ADULT CHOOSES TO LIVE.
No reason to give a crap about a government that wants to tax you to death do you part, and penniless.
No reason to worry about Aliens. They are very able to take care of themselves, no reason to worry about
their import either. They will go west or east as they want / can! 2,000,000 come to Colleges every fall from
the Asian west. No reason to give a crap about their dorms either.

I say thank the lord you got a park at your home to enjoy, and don't have to go get mugged at a public one.
