Going under the knife for carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists, right shoulder rotator cuff repair ...all during the same session. I'm glad not to have to schedule multiple surgeries, but am more than a little overwhelmed thinking of coming out from under anesthesia to face all that.

Oh yikes, that's a lot at once... how are you going to cope with 2 hands and a shoulder out of action, Annie ?

Annie, I assume you'll have help in the house during you healing.
Hope you heal quickly and feel like brand new! 🌹

I'll stay with family for a few days. I did question the doctor about hygiene basics and he assured me I'll be able to do everything with my left hand ...am researching a few adaptive tools to have available just in case!

That's a good idea.

I had the TRC repair and was back in action within a couple weeks. It wasn't that long ago...2014, I'm pretty sure. It wasn't bad, really. I had to wear a sling but only wore it for 3 or 4 days. Wear yours however long they say, though, or closer to it than I did. Mine healed quickly and was just a bit sore for a while.

Nice they're doing it all I once.

Take care!

Hope you heal quickly. Surprising that they're doing both wrists at the same time. Won't that leave you helpless - or at least handless?

Doctor said the left hand will be sore but functional. Most people who undergo endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery are able to write the next day ...sore but able. I won't be able to write because of the shoulder, but will have use of the left hand.

My tear is really small but it's in a bad spot ...will continue to worsen if not dealt with. Doctor predicts a quick recovery since it's so small. Said a sling for a week or so and PT for a few more weeks.

It's a real simple surgery; they just relieve pressure on the median nerve. Sometimes they don't even make a major incision, just a tiny opening for the endoscopic instruments.

There will be two appx 1/2 inch incisions on each hand. One cut is for the camera and the other for the instrument. It's usually done with local anesthesia but since I'm having the rotator cuff repair as well, it'll be general anesthesia ...but outpatient.

Jeez lady...you got someone there to take care of you? Good luck & hope for a speedy recovery.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Annie. My wife had the carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists in one operation, but not her shoulder, thankfully. I didn't have to fulfil my wedding vow about sickness and health, she made a clean sweep of things all on her own.

You might find when you come round from the anaesthetic your arms are out stretched, my wife's were, it's only to improve circulation. Your feeling in your hands return, you will be amazed.

Had the surgeries yesterday. So far, am sore but not as bad as I expected. Silver lining to fibromyalgia is that normal pain responses are more tolerable because pain meds are effective and you know there'll be improvement with time.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Annie!
