A little bit of infancy that still works

Evening all,
Once again another days coming to an end and here in france it's been a really nice hot day "One when if your a man you can be outside "shirt off" sunning your man boobs,

Once again i set off to return to the gite to continue trimming the hedge and general tidy up stuff,
As i drove through the nearest little village i was greeted by a sight thats nice to see in this day and age "let me get you into the mood so you'll understand what im talking about.

The nearest village to us is about 2 miles away and it is a small village ie one post office, one church, one cemetery, one hair saloon (only for the older ladies as they dont do modern cuts "it says so on the door and its only open friday and saturday) One tabac (bar) and one miaries office "town hall idea" about 12 houses all spread out
And the Infants first year school and thats what this write up is all about "the innocence of infancy.

The village is called "LOURDOUEIX SAINT PIERRE" And it's in dept 23 of the crues area of france.

As i was driving past the dead centre of the village (the cemetery) i could see a man holding up a little french flag and waving for me to stop, he was wearing one of those yellow over vest (the easy to see in the dark things) and he had a whistle on a landyard around his neck.

I slowed to a halt and lowered the window,
He said the children will be crossing the road further on, "it's their road saftey lesson so please let them cross"

I drove a few hundred yards around the slight bend in the road and the sight was just wonderful,
three members of staff all kitted out with the flags /whisle etc and this line of kids, some on little three wheeled bikes, some on push scooters, little girls with toy prams with teddy sitting inside the prams, and some holding hands with each other,

And all being instructed to look both ways before they cross and to give a big smile and a wave to all traffic that had stopped to let the class cross.

Well as the only vehicle that seemed to be out today I was the only one stopped and so i had a full class of little kids waving (and the odd teddy-bear)
It was a nice thing to see and it was nice to see the school was doing it's bit to help these kids understand what to do and what not to do ref road saftey.:)

Just one point i should mention here, in france the zebra crossing doe's not mean right of way for the pedestrian "unless it has the light system ie little red/green go sign
so this means you as a pedestrian "on an unmarked zebra crossing can be trying to cross for ages and ive found that as a driver if you do give way some clown behind will start beeping you.
So for children todays lesson is very worth while.;););)
