I’ve been sitting here looking at the little clock that sits over my workbench. It has turned yellow over the years, but back in the mid eighties when I got it it was pure white. It came as a freebie with my first printer, a Star Gemini 9 pin impact type. I bought it to use with my Commodore 64 computer.
Actually, it is the second clock. The first one they sent me didn’t work, so I wrote the company and they sent another. This one still keeps perfect time after all those years. The printer company is gone, the store that I bought it from is gone, the printer itself is gone, but the little clock keeps going.
Looking at it brings back some good memories of hours spent entering, troubleshooting, and playing with programs, and the great feeling when I got something to work correctly. I can still hear the print head going zing zing zing as it swept back and forth over the fan fold paper.
Any other computer nerds from that era?
