A Nice Walk ( with photos )

It's impressive that you start from seeds. I usually have to get starts... and then my husband plants them... and waters them. (Okay, he actually buys the starts as well.) I kind of suck at the gardening thing.

But you obviously don't! Your garden looks robust, healthy and happy. :)
Thank you Medusa. I just sent you a pm about your blueberry bush.

As of today, we now have 5 blueberry plants. They are self pollinating but we were told that we’d get a tenfold yield if we plant at least 2 different varieties so we got 2 varieties. As soon as we put the plants inside our 8 x 12 raised cedar beds, we got a stream of big bumblebees. 🐝 They are big bees too. I went out and took a picture of one of them.

Thanks for keeping the bees happy!

Are you getting a bit homesick?
Whenever we go for any extended holiday away from our house we eventually end up missing our home.
Yep,we’ve been away since April….looking forward to heading home ,which will take a bit longer than usual ….cause hubs had a skin cancer removed from his lower leg yesterday and he had to have a skin graft as it was to big just to cut and stitch ..so he has to keep his leg up for a few days to prevent clots , so that’s less time traveling
so he can rest his leg …I will most likely do a bit of the driving 🚗 …..

The day we expect to arrive home it will be exactly 7 weeks since we left …

Yes I did, it is a big attraction for visitors to the swamp. It's a 1.5 mile round trip hike out to the obverastion tower. Thats a lot of boards.
I really like having boardwalks through otherwise unavailable nature. There was one on Fire Island, NY winding through Sunken Forest. Thanks for the picture.

I agree, it allows people to access places most people never would be able to go. Glad you liked it. Friends used to lead kayalk groups out into the swamp and camp for a few days. What fun.

That’s very cool on many levels. One and a half miles is a very long walk considering it’s all boards. Thanks for answering my question.

Wow Kadee. I didn’t realize your husband was getting skin cancer removed. A skin graft? Wow! I hope you are doing some of the driving. I have skin cancer also. I was supposed to go back to my dermatologist but never did. I now have skin cancer on my face which I’m going to have to get removed. I hate going to doctors. Anyway. You’ve been away a long time., I wish you a safe journey back.

I’d love to try a blueberry plant again ….i had one in a pot and It grew reasonably well except for birds eating the fruits , so I transplanted it into the ground and it didn’t like it at all ….it died ..it wasn’t till after I found out they like acidic soil …so if I ever try one again I’ll leave it in a huge pot filled with acidic potting mix

Please have your face checked … @PeppermintPatty … This area in Queensland has many skin cancer clinics due to,the outdoor lifestyle / beach / surfing….and we found a excellent skin doctor up here we make a point of seeing each year …he found a nasty very small SC in my hand last year and luckily got the lot whet he cut it off ….ive had lots cut off ..burned off …used Efudix cream on ….it turns your skin ( treated area ) red blisters / dry scabs after you stop using it …but it clears your skin …

Today we went to the park again. It’s a high of 18 degrees and rainy. We met a lot of people at the park today. It was very busy.
There were at least 7 or 8 campsites which were filled with occupants. Most of them with nice camping Rigs. Then there was one lone tent. It had a canopy over it.

The rain held off until we were finished walking. There was at least 15 vehicles that passed us. Everyone slowed down for us which I greatly appreciated.

My husband picked some blueberry bushes from the roots. They are blueberries that can spread. He got some low ones and high ones. Then we went to the garden gallery which was packed with customers. We got some strawberries and cayenne pepper. We have 3 different types of peppers grown from seed. In general peppers are slow growers.

It started raining as soon as we left the garden centre, a perfect day for planting.

Today we went to the park again. It was 19 degrees and partially sunny. There was a coast guard boat out this morning and it was going from the Atlantic Ocean to Bras ‘D Ore Lake. I wish we went back to take pictures. The road actually moves for the boat to go by and it looks very cool. Here’s the boat from a distance.

Here’s some wild blueberries starting to develop. Speaking of blueberries, my husband is on a blueberry frenzy. He can’t stop talking about blueberries.🫐 He’s purchased 4 different types of blueberries and is playing on cultivating them so we have lots of blueberry plants.
